Nostalgia In Grand-Place : Joachim Caffonnette Plays Bill Evans • TRIBUTE

Joachim Caffonnette (piano) and guests tba.

Our artistic director makes no secret of it — he is a huge fan of Bill Evans. Among the most influential pianists in the history of jazz, a key architect of the timeless and worldwide success of *Kind of Blue*, the Plainfield native enjoyed a career spanning more than 30 years with a style that is unique and recognisable from the very first note. A magician of harmony, a master of romanticism and the inventor of interplay with his legendary trio alongside Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, he was a prolific composer and a "reinventor of standards" who forever changed the way those who followed him would play the piano. Joachim Caffonnette, who has studied the American pianist for a very long time and has thoroughly absorbed his style, will attempt to do him justice this Sunday afternoon.
